    Today's plan: Port Blair -Ross and North Bay Island -Port Blair. Ross Island (now Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep) was the British administrative headquarters of the islands; its ruined church, bakery and officers' quarters are slowly being reclaimed by giant tree roots, and deer and peacocks wander freely. North Bay Island, opposite Port Blair, is known for its clear water, coral reefs and lighthouse, and is a popular spot for glass-bottom boat rides and snorkelling.
